PLENTY of happy little feet went marching through the cinema doors at Shellharbour yesterday to see the animated Antarctic stars of the big screen.

Penguins and dinosaurs are the big attractions in this year's holiday blockbusters.

Greater Union Shellharbour assistant manager Carmel Dello said Happy Feet, Night at the Museum and The Holiday were expected to be the most popular movies this Christmas.

Dapto youngsters Jayden and Jaclyn Bright voted with their feet yesterday morning. Their dad Mark said the pair had been eagerly waiting to see Happy Feet.

"We often go to the movies on Boxing Day - it is a good way to spend some time with the family," he said.

After hours playing the Playstation game of the same name, Jayden, 7, and Jaclyn, 13, knew what to expect as they headed in to the movie.

"It looked good and I think it will be funny," Jaclyn said.

Her younger brother agreed it looked "cool".

Ms Dello said it was always difficult to predict Boxing Day crowds and it usually came down to the weather. "They either come to the movies or go to the beach," she said.

At Greater Union in Wollongong there were few people in the morning but this changed as the day progressed.

A spokeswoman said the morning session of Happy Feet was relatively empty but by the afternoon screening, the foyer was full of families.

"It's picked up as the day has progressed, people are always a bit sluggish first thing in the morning on Boxing Day," she said.
